The accused in the murder of Etienne du Preez and attempted murder of Flip Minnaar, Jaen-Lee Pyne, has been refused bail and will remain in custody until his next court appearance.
Pyne is the main suspect in the shootings that occurred in central Heidelberg on July 3 of this year.
This judgment was handed down in the Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court this morning (August 6).
The presiding magistrate found that no exceptional circumstances for release on bail for an alleged schedule 6 offence had been met and thus the decision to not grant bail had been made.
The case has been postponed until September 5 for further investigation.
