SUPER SEBASTIAN CLAIMS LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE

He might have been writing his record exams as recently as Thursday, but Sebastian Ferreira is now the Versus MMA lightweight title holder following a shock victory this past Saturday evening (September 14).
Our local star, who trains and fights out of Stefan Pretorius’s Ability Academy, featured on the “Moer ‘n Boer” card in front of a packed crowd at the Heartfelt Arena in Pretoria.
His opponent, Jason Mackay, is an older and much more experienced fighter and was expected to come out on top against our Heidelberg hero. However, according to coach Stefan, Sebastian put his heart and soul into the contest and eventually walked away as a deserving champion and new holder of the lightweight belt.
Stefan told Heidelberg Times that the first round was tough on Sebastian, with Mackay scoring with better punches. The second round was more even and in the third round, Sebastian started to wear his opponent down. Eventually, he had his opponent in a “rear neck choke” (the same manner in which Dricus du Plessis won his most recent fight) and Mackay was forced to tap out.
This was an unbelievably impressive victory for Sebastian and a real feather in the cap of coach Stefan and his Ability Academy gymnasium. The youngster is now unbeaten in four amateur fights and the world is literally his oyster at this point in time.
Well done Sebastian for representing Heidelberg in such a graceful and impressive manner – we are all super-proud of you!
